Whether is hot or iced, tea has been part of American culture for years. If you love tea as much as I do, it’s a fascinating topic to explore! A favorite tidbit of history I enjoyed learning from Wikipedia? That “Thomas Sullivan, credited with inventing tea bags in 1908, was a New York tea importer who inadvertently invented tea bags when he sent tea samples to clients in small silk bags to cut costs, and they mistakenly steeped the bags whole.” [source] This made me think of the tea time rituals I’ve created and changed over the years.
Every time my husband and I go on a thrifting adventure, I look for silver trays, tea cups/pots, as well as glasses and spoons. There is a sense of duty when I “rescue” my chosen items. I know that someone will enjoy them as much as I do.
What is my tea time ritual? Well, my favorite part of the day is when my husband brings me a pot of Tea Hugger hand blended peppermint tea. It’s a soothing signal to the end of my work day and a gentle reminder of the passion a fellow entrepreneur pours into their business.
Though I am on a sugar-free diet, I still long for my sugary southern sweet tea. It was the perfect companion to the latest book I was reading, gave me a boost of energy to tackle our weekend yard work or cooled me off on hot summer nights as I listened to the familiar and comforting din of cicadas from our back patio. My “sweet tea” is now made with honey and is caffeine free.
